Blind Ear

I used to hold my breath

Entering rooms where you were

Hoping to avoid your attention

Hiding truth between pressed lips

Softening the base in my voice to ring in a pitch only you can hear

But you can’t hear sounds outside the width of your shoulders

The ears created for you resulted in blindness

Turning your soul deeply departed and undeserving of retribution

I say, I offered you another way of hearing me

It requires you to open your eyes on your own

But fear, the kind bubbling in your throat

Before the final moment of being exposed cripples you

Because once your eyes have been opened you can’t deny the truth

Your supremacy - your foundation was built on lies

Take off your white hood

The floor of red, white, and blue is crumbling

Beneath your feet lay bodies hung by a noose

While your hands drip of evil and violence

But you can never really kill the truth

The ancestors blood runs through my veins

Guiding me with purpose and relentless spirit, invisible to you

I used to hold my breath

But now I embrace the power of my rage
